Josh Cahill, an Aviation YouTuber, is no longer allowed to fly with Qatar Airways after publishing a video in which he criticizes many aspects of the flights, service, and planes of the company.
Aviation YouTuber Josh Cahill has been banned from flying with Qatar Airways after criticizing the company’s planes in a 13-minute video titled “THE SHOCKING DECLINE OF QATAR AIRWAYS,” published in August.
Claiming to have witnessed “outdated planes, dirty cabins,” and a “demotivated crew,” the Aviation YouTuber criticized everything from the welcome greeting to the food offered to passengers, seat arrangement, and entertainment options.
Qatar Airways attempted to reach an agreement with Cahill by asking him to remove the negative comments posted in the video. Then, after the YouTuber denied the request for the second time, the airline sent an email to Cahill informing him that they had canceled a future reservation he had made and prohibited him from traveling with Qatar Airways again.
“For security reasons, I wouldn’t fly with Qatar even if they unbanned me because I would probably be arrested in Doha. However, the whole ‘unbanning’ movement is meant to set an example that airlines should not go unpunished for censoring flight reviewers,” explained Cahill in an interview with The Post.
The YouTuber claimed to be “surprised by Qatar’s drastic response.” Subsequently, many users shared similar (or even worse) experiences with the airline, which, despite the negative criticism, claims on its official website to lead the Skytrax Best Business Class ranking for the 10th consecutive year.
